Start your day by meeting your tour guide and accessible van at the Valletta cruise port.
Medieval art and architecture await on this accessible Malta tour that includes the former capital, Mdina, and the "new" capital, Valletta, both extensively built by the Knights of St John.
Meet your knowledgeable guide and accessible van for a panoramic drive to Mdina. Once the capital of Malta, Mdina is surrounded by ancient walls and makes for a peaceful break from the hustle and bustle of Valletta. Cars are not permitted, and its population is fewer than 300. In the "silent city," take a leisurely stroll/roll to appreciate the beauty of this traditional, historic place.
Back in Valletta, explore stunning St John's Co-Cathedral. This beautiful Roman Catholic church is an example of extravagant Baroque-style art and architecture. It was built between 1572 and 1577 by the Order of St John, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist.
Pass through the ancient city gate of Valletta to visit the National Museum of Archaeology. It is housed in the impressive Auberge de Provence and exhibits a spectacular range of artifacts from Malta's Neolithic period (5000 BC) to the Phoenician Period (400 BC).
Notes:
This tour is designed to be accessible for all guests, including those using a wheelchair. The tour operator suggests you bring a companion to assist, as guides are not allowed to push wheelchairs. The tour route avoids stairs; however, the nature of access may differ from the standards you are familiar with at home. Accessible bathrooms with wide doors are available along the tour route. An accessible vehicle with a wheelchair lift or ramp is used for transportation. The number of accessible vehicles available is extremely limited; make your accessible shore excursion reservations as far in advance as possible. Lunch is not included. If appropriate (i.e., on long-duration tours), you will have time to purchase lunch at your own expense during the tour. St John's Co-Cathedral is closed on Sundays; a visit to the Upper Barakka Gardens will be substituted. Please complete the Special Services form at Welcome to Special Requirements Form ; this will ensure that suitable transportation is in place for your tour.
