The prima donna islands of Malta have starred in many a mega-hit movie, including those by Steven Spielberg and Kevin Reynolds.
Begin in Valletta with a panoramic drive to Upper Barakka Gardens, where you will view the Grand Harbour in all its splendor -- the perfect setting for action and romance. Your movie-buff guide will point out locations where Midnight Express, The Count of Monte Cristo and Munich were filmed.
Next, walk down St Ursula Street and up to the St Barbara Bastions to the Siege Bell. Across the harbor's breakwater, you will see Fort Rinella -- location of the coliseum from gladiator and city scenes from Troy.
Leave the harbor and walk up to merchant's street; then, reboard your vehicle and head to the Game of Thrones church in Gzira. The Great Sept of Baelor was used in countless scenes, including the wedding of King Joffrey Baratheon to Margaery Tyrell.
Back on the couch, you'll travel to rabat to see the town's main square, which was a set location for Munich.
The fortress town and former capital city of Mdina is often used as a movie location. Fans of Game of Thrones will recognize several lanes that featured in king's landing, including copper street. Take time walking through the labyrinthine streets and capture magnificent views from the fort.
