Board a coach for the drive southeast to Marsaxlokk fishing village, where startlingly colorful luzzu fishing boats bob about on a dark blue sea. Marsaxlokk Harbour was where the Turks arrived in 1565 at the start of the Great Siege and where Napoleon and his troops landed in 1798 to end the Knights’ rule on the island. Enjoy some free time to purchase a coffee (at your own expense) and explore this village by the sea.
Head to a local winery for a view over the vineyards. Hear about the vines, planting methods and other details. On the terrace (weather permitting), enjoy a wine tasting with some local cheese and crackers.
At a nearby glass-blowing factory, watch the process of producing glass objects of different shapes and sizes. A member of the family will explain the different steps to you.
Return to the ship via the coastal road.
Notes:
Corkage policy: Wine purchased on this tour is exempt from the on-board corkage fee (offer limited to one bottle of wine per person). Tour sequence may vary.
