Leaving the port of Messina, you will head toward the lovely village of Zafferana, driving south on the freeway through a fertile paradise of green vineyards and golden citrus groves. At 1,800 feet above sea level, Santa Venerina village boasts enchanting, wild scenery, which becomes increasingly forbidding as you approach the Mt Etna Park. Visit the 1992 lava flows here.
After a 30-minute drive, you'll reach the Gival jewelry factory at Giarre. After a very warm welcome from the staff, enjoy a cocktail. Tour the small workshop and discover the unique collection showcased in the exhibition room, where you can purchase a piece of jewelry if you wish.
Notes:
Wear closed-toe walking shoes. There are approximately 30 steps within the villa, with no elevator. Mt Etna is viewed from a distance and is not visited on this tour.
