Leaving the port of Messina, you will head towards the lovely village of Zafferana, driving south on the freeway through a fertile paradise of green vineyards and golden citrus groves. At 1,800 feet above sea level, Santa Venerina village boasts enchanting, wild scenery, which becomes increasingly forbidding as you approach the park of Mt Etna.
A refreshment will be served at a local restaurant. Enjoy panoramic views of the Sicilian coastline that was overwhelmed by an eruption 300 years ago. The volcano has erupted more than 130 times, killing more than a million people. It dominates the entire coast of Sicily, and its mass outrivals all of Italy's other mountains.

Travel time to Zafferana is approximately 90 minutes each way. Bring a light jacket or sweater. Mt Etna is viewed but not visited. No guarantee is offered concerning visibility or views on any particular day, as weather and atmospheric conditions vary and are beyond the tour operator's control.
