Departing from Livorno, you will take a scenic 90-minute coach ride to Florence, one of Italy's most artistically significant cities and arguably the seat of the Renaissance.
Once in the city, you'll start your guided walking tour as you head to your first destination -- a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Historic Center of Florence.
Follow your guide to the Piazza del Duomo and one of Florence's most recognizable landmarks -- the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Consecrated in 1436, it's the fourth largest church in the world. The piazza is also home to a fine baptistery, one of the oldest buildings in the city, thought to date back to the 4th century. It is renowned for its three sets of artistically-important bronze doors, featuring relief sculptures of scenes from the Bible, as well as its fine 13th-century mosaics and other masterpieces.
Follow your guide to the Piazza Della Signoria -- the political heart of the city from the Middle Ages to the present day. The square, in front of the Palazza Vecchio, is essentially an open-air museum with some of the world's most renowned statues residing here.
Continuing your adventure, you will pause for photos at the famous Ponte Vecchio Bridge before stopping for a much-needed break and a delicious lunch, with wine, at a first-class restaurant.
Refreshed, you're ready to explore the renowned Accademia and Uffizi Museum & Gallery. One of the oldest and most famous museums of the western world, it's rivaled only by the Louvre in its collection of Renaissance works. One look at the crowd at the Accademia and you'll know there's something extremely special inside. What was once the world's first art school is now the home of one the greatest sculptures of all time -- David by Michelangelo by Michelangelo. It is truly breathtaking. Sculpted between 1501 and 1504, it stands more than 13 feet tall and is spectacular in its detail. You'll spend approximately an hour here, admiring the many works of Michelangelo and other Renaissance masters. Leonardo da Vinci's The Annunciation, Sandro Botticelli's The Birth of Venus and Rembrandt's self-portraits, are here.
Your tour concludes with a walk back to your motorcoach and a panoramic drive back to Livorno and the ship.
