A Dutch-speaking guide leads this tour (or a guide with a Dutch interpreter). A limited number of Dutch guides and interpreters are available in this port; book early to avoid disappointment.
A visit to Ephesus is an encounter with one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the world. Historians once believed that the Amazons founded Ephesus, but today it is assumed that Ephesus was the Hittite city of Apasa.
With your guide, see the Odeon, where the advisory council met, the Roman baths and many other columns, monuments and ruins, including the Celsus Library and the Great Theatre.
In the village of Sirince, you will experience the perfect synthesis of Turkish and Greek culture as well as the world-famous Turkish hospitality. Stroll through the streets, where the exterior houses are kept in Greek style, while their interiors are strikingly Turkish. Enjoy time to buy handmade items and souvenirs.
Shop at a leather outlet center on your way back to Kusadasi.
Notes:
Tour requires extensive walking. Terrain includes uneven and cobblestone surfaces, inclines, and many steps. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Expect dense crowding and congestion at each site. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Bring insect repellent in July and August. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
