This accessible Ephesus shore excursion lets you travel back in time as you explore the spectacular ancient city of Ephesus, including the Great Theatre, the magnificent Library of Celsus and the ruins of the Temple of Artemis.
Meet your knowledgeable guide and accessible van and set out on a comfortable drive to the lower gate of the ancient city of Ephesus. This was once among the Mediterranean's largest cities. View the most magnificent structure in Ephesus -- the iconic Great Theatre -- first constructed in the Hellenistic Period in the third century BC. The Romans enlarged and restyled it much later, and its capacity was 25,000 seats. The adjacent Theatre Gymnasium housed lobbies, warm bathing pools, recreation rooms and workout halls.
An accessible walking/rolling tour showcases the famous Arcadian Street (Marble Street), Harbour Street, the Commercial Agora, the Tomb of Arsinoe, the Gate of Hadrian and the Celsus Library. The latter was built in AD 117; your tour guide will share its fascinating history.
Travel by van to the nearby Temple of Artemis -- now in ruins but counted as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. A panoramic drive through the site is a chance to capture some beautiful photos.
Visit an archaeological site believed to be the house of the Virgin Mary (the mother of Jesus). This humble little house boasts an intriguing history and now functions as a small chapel.

This tour is designed to be accessible for all guests, including those using a wheelchair. The tour operator suggests you bring a companion to assist, as guides are not allowed to push wheelchairs. The tour route avoids stairs; however, the nature of access may differ from the standards you are familiar with at home. Accessible bathrooms with wide doors are available along the tour route. An accessible vehicle with a wheelchair lift or ramp is used for transportation. The number of accessible vehicles available is extremely limited; make your accessible shore excursion reservations as far in advance as possible. Lunch is not included.
