Discover the ancient Mediterranean town of Koper, situated on the northern coast of the Istrian peninsula. Your two-hour walking tour makes the most of the town's Venetian-era architecture and traditions, showcased in the well-preserved Old Town and its squares.
Led by a knowledgeable local guide, your walking tour begins when you climb a long staircase to the upper level of town. Your stroll takes you to the picturesque town center, Titov Square, where you'll see the 15th-century Praetorian Palace and the Cathedral of St Mary's Assumption. This is the largest cathedral in Slovenia.
Continue down the cobblestone Čevljarska Street towards the Muda Gate, and down Kidričeva Street to a tavern housed in an old salt warehouse. Pause for refreshments at a local café -- a glass of local Slovenian wine and some light snacks.
You'll end up at the Koper Regional Museum, featuring Slovenian contemporary history. Head back to the ship from there. Guests who wish to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so, but must make their own way back to the ship.
Notes:
