Mykonos had substantial influence during the Greek War of Independence before it was re-discovered as a picturesque location for filming. Now, it is perhaps the most famous of all the Greek islands.
Drive through the quaint villages of Ioannis, Ornos and Kalafatis to Ano Mera. Here, you’ll visit the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani, dedicated to the protector of Mykonos. It was founded in 1580, but the building you will see today dates only to the 18th century. Inside the chapel, view various icons depicting scenes from the New Testament.
Ouzo and Greek mezedes (snacks) are served before you return to the port.
Notes:
Modest attire is required; knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered.
