Enjoy a pleasant, scenic drive through the traditional Cretan landscape to the village of Peza. This has been one of the most significant wine-growing areas since Minoan times, and today produces 70% of Cretan wines.
Continue to the village of Archanes, which has won European acclaim for its attractive restoration. The village is an ideal spot to indulge in the scents, sights and sounds of the Cretan landscape. Its streets have been newly cobblestoned and there are splendid displays of blooming flowers, fruit trees and plants in the yards, terraces and balconies of the quaint houses. The surrounding countryside consists of masses of vineyards, and is famous for the rich red wines of the Archanes appellation.
Your morning out ends with a visit to the bustling city of Iraklion. A panoramic drive introduces you to the downtown core before you return to the port and the ship.
