The Palace of Knossos was once the religious and administrative center of the Minoan world.
Explore the labyrinth built to confine the fabled Minotaur, born out of the union between King Minos' queen and a bull.
See the ruins of the palace complex, now excavated and partially reconstructed to give a better understanding of the complex labyrinth. View the living quarters of the king and queen, the storerooms, potters' workshops, and the theater.
From Knossos, your journey continues to the modern village of Arolithos, built in the style of typical architecture to resemble and old village. As you enter the town on foot, follow its cobblestone streets to the popular art/folklore museum. Along the way you'll pass numerous shops where artisans produce crafts such as woven textiles, paintings, mosaics and even bread.
At the village square, stop for lunch at a local restaurant and take in the views of the traditional church nearby. You'll have the chance to observe and participate in a folkloric show that brings to life the culture of Crete.
