This tour takes you back in time to experience traditional Greek life as it once was.
Liotrivi is a completely restored historic mansion -- once the family home of famous Greek poet Giannis Ritsos and subsequently, until 1967, a traditional olive oil press. Today, it is a fabulous agro-tourism facility. It still produces olive oil, wine, bread and other local specialties, offering visitors the chance to experience Greek culture in the countryside as it was more than 100 years ago.
Your visit starts with a stroll through the farm's very own olive groves and vineyards before stepping inside to see the mansion. The old wine cellar comes first, and you'll sample some of the local varieties. Your guide will describe the various stages of traditional winemaking. Next it's on to the olive oil producing facility, which houses fully functional equipment that was used almost a century ago and still utilized today. As you walk through the living quarters of the mansion, step out onto the terrace to take in the incredible views of the surrounding countryside.
Enjoy a fabulous buffet snack of traditional Greek products, including stone-baked bread, feta cheese, olives, relishes and, of course, locally produced wine straight from Liotrivi's own barrels.
