Welcome to Dubrovnik -- an enchanting 1,400-year-old medieval walled town famously dubbed the Pearl of Adriatic. It is no surprise that in 2011, HBO chose Dubrovnik as a filming location for its award-winning show Game of Thrones. The chemistry between HBO and Dubrovnik has proven to function perfectly. The city and its surroundings were featured for three consecutive years (seasons 2, 3 and 4) in the role of King's Landing and the magical town of Qarth -- "the greatest city there was or ever will be."
Because truth is never far from fiction, today, you will get acquainted with Dubrovnik's real-life 'game' -- a medieval epic straight from the pages of history, covering how the small but influential medieval city-state of Dubrovnik has played against ruthless enemies and larger competitors to win its survival and preserve its precious freedom.
A team of devoted Game of Thrones fans has carefully and thoughtfully constructed this tour, which showcases the spectacular Dubrovnik locations featured in the show. Enjoy familiar and breathtaking landscapes as you stride from one iconic GoT scene to the other.
It is an unforgettable journey that follows in the footsteps of your favorite characters, through the scenic sets of Blackwater Bay to the House of the Undying. Seasons 3 and 4 introduced the Trsteno Arboretum -- a lovely Mediterranean park. Fans of the show will associate the arboretum with the powerful family from the Reach -- the Tyrells of Highgarden -- who spend a great deal of time in the arboretum during their ill-fated stay in King's Landing. Iconic scenes involving Lady Margaery, Ser Loras and their witty grandmother, Lady Olenna Tyrell (the Queen of Thorns), take place here.
When your tour is finished, you'll return to the ship -- possibly on horseback via Winterfell, or via Fleabottom in Margaery Tyrell's palanquin, but more likely directly by motorcoach.
Notes:
You will see locations, not film sets. All locations were returned to their original state after filming. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
