A scenic 45-minute transfer brings you to the Paleokastritsa area -- the starting point for your hike today. This is one of the most colorful spots on the island, famous for its six bays surrounded by towering rocky cliffs. The area offers virtually infinite breathtaking views, and is best explored from the small trails above the bays.
Your hike starts with an ascent from sea level up to the Bella Vista Plateau. Admire the entire bay below -- lush green vegetation meeting the turquoise blue of the Ionian Sea. Your guide will point out the Rock of Pertokaravo, which legend holds was once was a ship belonging to the fleet of Odysseus on his journey to Ithaka.
In the small village of Makrades, a snack offers a pleasant break.
From here, the hike descends a cliffside path to the Bay of St George, where you will have some free time for swimming. Your coach will then pick you up for the return to the port.
Notes:
Wear sturdy walking or hiking shoes. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, sunscreen and a hat.
