Corfu boasts some of the world’s oldest olive trees. Today you will visit the Dafnis family estate, where generations of the Dafnis family have lovingly produced the award-winning Governor olive oils you have seen featured in Food & Wine.
The Dafnis' olive trees, on the slopes of Mount Gamillios, are a staggering 500 years old. The olives grown here are pressed the same day they are harvested, so the freshness of the oil is unsurpassed.
Family members personally tend the ancient lianolia olive trees, passing their knowledge lovingly from one generation to the next, growing a wealth of expertise that takes a lifetime to learn.
Olive oil forms the basis of Mediterranean cuisine and is known for its health benefits. The lianolia variety grown by the Dafnis family has received critical acclaim for its supreme quality, taste and nutritional value.
Your tour of the estate includes an introduction to the world of olive oil. While visiting a 15th-century oil press, you will learn about Governor’s special production techniques, which combine tradition with the latest technology.
During your visit, enjoy an olive oil tasting paired with local delicacies such as cheese, tomatoes and bread from a nearby village. Wine is included as well but is not part of the tasting demonstration.
