You'll head to the beach in Cartagena before traveling out of the city towards La Union. Just before the town center, a turn-off takes you towards Portman and the mining district. Your guide explains the area's history, including how the Romans mined the local silver reserves, the British Industrial Revolution, and modern times. (S)he will discuss the reality of the Romans' environmental impact on the area.
Travel along stunning mountain roads, where rugged beauty and coastal views are on display. You'll drop into La Manga Club -- an affluent area providing amazing views out to the Mar Menor and La Manga strip.
From the coastal village of Los Urrutias, turn inland and travel through local farmland, passing one of the region's few working windmills.
In Los Comanchos, you'll spot the Liqueur 43 factory before you head back towards the city of Cartagena. You can visit the old amphitheatre, just five minutes from the ship, if you wish.
This tour is ordered per motorized tricycle (not per person), so only one person in the party needs to order the motor trike. The price shown is the total cost for the motor trike and English-speaking driver. The maximum capacity of each motorized trike is two participants. Tour durations are approximate and may vary. Minimum age is 8 years. Maximium weight is 264 lbs (120 kg). Total weight limit per vehicle is 485 lbs (220 kg). Average speed is between 18-24 mph (30-40 km/h). Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair. Not suitable for guests with back or neck conditions or for pregnant women. Wear closed-toe shoes (mandatory). Helmets are provided and must be worn.
