Highlights of Trani
Board an air-conditioned coach and take the scenic coastal route to Trani, known as "the slow town" because of its laid-back charm and easygoing manner.
Your guide will accompany you to the lovely Trani Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Pilgrim and certainly one of the most magnificent churches in Italy. Built between the 11th and 13th centuries, this Romanesque church sits right at the water's edge. Step through the doorway adorned with 800-year-old stone carvings and visit the crypt dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Pilgrim.
A stroll through Trani's Old Town is a great way to acquaint yourself with the whitewashed buildings that curve around the scenic bay. Don't miss the well-preserved Swabian Castle, which dates to 1249 and is considered one of the most sophisticated secular buildings of the Middle Ages. Enjoy some free time to wander along the cobblestone streets, watch the boats unload their daily catch, visit a gelateria, or sit at a charming café with a cup of espresso (at your own expense).
