Transfer to Athens (approximately 45 minutes) and explore with hop-on, hop-off sightseeing aboard an open-top double-decker bus. The flexibility of the hop-on, hop-off construct allows you to discover Athens at your leisure and create your own itinerary for the day. With two routes (two lines) designed around the main points of interest in Athens and audio commentary in 14 languages, this is a great choice for independent touring.
Buy your ticket in advance — simply show your pre-purchased ticket (from the ship), and the staff will usher you to the front. The price is the same now or later, whether purchased through Holland America Line or from the vendor.
The various lines intersect at the area near the entrance to the Acropolis and/or Piraeus interchanges and include the Acropolis, the New Acropolis Museum, the Archaeological Museum, Karaiskaki Square, the Temple of Zeus, the Panathenaic Stadium, and many more.

Notes:
The first stop after boarding the bus is the Temple of Zeus. (South Acropolis Entrance), where you must change buses to join the Athens Line (Red route) or visit the Acropolis Museum. Wear comfortable walking shoes. This is a hop-on, hop-off service and is not exclusive to Holland America Line guests; the tour is open to the general public. The tour is unguided; you are merely purchasing a ticket for the bus service. You must exchange your voucher for a hop-on, hop-off ticket with the bus driver upon boarding the first bus. A clean headset is issued to you at the beginning of your tour, and you will keep it for the duration. Expect traffic delays and possible wait times at the stops associated with the service. It is your responsibility to return to the ship before all-aboard time. Entrance fees to attractions along the route are not included. Due to the nature of this tour, there will be no refunds. Participants must negotiate one step to board the bus. Where applicable, participants must climb steps to reach the bus' upper level. Tour duration varies based on your choice of stops and time spent at each. The entire bus loop without hopping off is approximately 2 hours. Tour sequence may vary. Bring local currency or credit cards, as most vendors do not accept US dollars. Tour operates rain or shine but may be canceled by the operator in the event of extreme weather or unsuitable conditions. Multi-port packages and discounts for students and seniors are not available on board the ship. Entrance fees to attractions along the route are not included. Walking is at your discretion.
