Join the Greeks in their everyday life as you experience a tasty slice of modern Hellenic culture and some delicious eating opportunities.
Set out with a small group (maximum 20 privileged guests) with a foodie guide who knows all the best places. Follow him/her on this culinary and cultural walk among specialty food stores and small workshops.
Taste koulouri (sesame bread), extra-virgin olive oils, cheese, wine, honey, vinegar, pastourmas cured meat, cream-filled pie (bougatsa), Greek donuts (loukoumades) and, of course, souvlaki.
Say "yasou" (hello) to the vendors at the bustling Varvakios fish, meat and vegetable market, where the freshest food is piled high, waiting to be haggled over.
You'll also visit one of Athens's most beautiful spice stores and enter a traditional coffee shop for industrial-strength java.
The provenance of the foods you taste and how they are influenced by Eastern, Western and quintessentially Greek flavors make for some fascinating discussions.
Notes:
