Delight in a half-day trip to the community of Ocana, where you'll not only learn about the Caux Brothers' renowned essential oils but also see the process and taste the honey from family-owned Le Jardin des Abeilles.
Relax on a 45-minute drive into the countryside en route to Ocana, a hillside commune known for its cobbled, red tile-roofed homes and pleasant remote setting. Upon arrival, you'll first step inside Maison des Senteurs, a distillery where the Caux Brothers have produced essential oils and cosmetic products for more than 20 years. Explore their international brand, learning how they use native trees and plants to create 13 different organic oils that are used for fragrances and natural healing purposes.
Then, breathe in the outdoor essence of Le Jardin des Abeilles, a honey farm run by beekeepers Denis and Nancy Casalta since 2000. Set along the Prunelli River, this bee farm's 400 hives yield six varietals of honey.
Walk along the flower-lined pathways, learning about bee behavior, before sampling an assortment of honeys collected on site. Pick up some souvenir jars in the gift shop before enjoying a lovely drive back to Ajaccio.
Your tour ends with a visit to the Ajaccio farmers' market. Delight all your senses simultaneously among its bold colors and distinctive flavors.
