If you delight in ancient history, you won't want to miss this tour. With 600,000 inhabitants, Málaga is the major port city of Andalusia. Many ancient civilizations have left their mark here, which you'll discover in Málaga's rich archaeological remains and fascinating monuments.
Alcazaba Palace is an ancient historical palace that commands breathtaking views of the city and the bay.
You'll stop at the Renaissance-style cathedral built between the 16th and 18th centuries. It is now a National Monument and boasts a Baroque choir by Pedro de Mena, as well as some fine examples of Spanish Renaissance sculpture.
Just a short walk from the cathedral, you will view from the outside the Roman theatre and the Alcazaba -- the latter is a historical palace that was built in the 11th century to be the residence of the Arabian caliphs (kings).
Take in the many sights from your coach on a panoramic drive through town, including the façade of the bullring, as well as City Hall, the courthouse, and the Central Post Office -- all charming 19th-century buildings.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. On Sundays, guided groups are not allowed in the cathedral; your guide will offer an introduction outside, and you can step inside to visit on your own. Before and during Easter week, the cathedral can be closed to visitors at short notice during services. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
