Depart Raiatea by catamaran and cruise in an enclosed lagoon shared with her sister island, Taha'a.
At Fa'a'aha Bay, you will arrive at a family-owned black pearl farm for a guided tour. Learn the history of black pearl farming, from the mother-of-pearl shell and varieties to the preparation for grafting, and the periods between nursing and harvesting. Enjoy some refreshments and peruse some of their finished products.
Reboard the catamaran for a short cruise to another family-owned and -operated vanilla farm. This guided visit will allow you to learn, taste, and smell the amazingly sweet aroma of Tahaa's world-famous vanilla pods -- one of French Polynesia's main agricultural export products.
A short, scenic boat ride will bring you to one of Tahaa's most popular islets -- Motu Mahaea. This secluded islet is completely covered with brilliant white sand and sparse coconut trees, providing just the right amount of shade. The multi-colored blue-turquoise lagoon surrounding it sparkles with sapphire and emerald tones. It also boasts great snorkeling from the beach, with ideal spots for beginners and advanced snorkeling around the channel pass. Otherwise, kick back and relax on the beach and enjoy the sounds and rhythms of the South Seas provided by the local crew.
A short boat ride will bring you back to Uturoa's dock, where your ship awaits.
