Head toward the east coast of Tahiti to visit the James Norman Hall House. This interesting home displays the daily environment of the famous poet and writer of contemporary American literature.
Continue to Matavai Bay and Point Venus. This was the historic landing site for most European explorers and evangelists and was also the point from which Captain Cook observed the transit of Venus in 1769. It boasts the only lighthouse on the island, built in 1867.
Your last stop will include a short walk to the Tahara Viewpoint. Your guide will allow you some time here to appreciate the view and snap a few photos.
Notes:
Traffic can be unpredictable; your patience is greatly appreciated if a delay extends the tour duration. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, inclines, gravel, grass, and steps. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Expensive clothing and jewelry should not be worn on tour. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Bring insect repellent.
