Head toward the east coast of the island and continue to Matavai Bay, where Tahara’a Point offers a great photo opportunity.
Nearby, you will find Point Venus. This is where Captain James Cook observed the transit of Venus in 1769, and the only lighthouse on the island was built here in 1867.
Lunch is served at the Gauguin Restaurant (or similar); then, savor the Spring Garden of Vaipahi, brimming with tropical plants and trees.
Explore the interesting Museum of Tahiti & Her Islands, located in Punaauia on the west coast of Tahiti. The museum displays a large array of archeological finds, Polynesian artwork and costumes that tell the story of ancient Tahiti.
