Lihue, the heart of Kauai, is a great place to encounter the connection between agriculture, produce and the culture of the island. Try some local favorites such as ginger beer, brewed beer, fish, and other seasonal delicacies. Restaurant chefs here source their ingredients from within their own community, creating culinary experiences that leave you wanting seconds.
On historic Kress Street, visit Alakoko -- a shop featuring interesting island-made items from Kauai artisans.
