This delightful, half-day tour really mixes things up with a four-wheel drive safari and a short boat cruise allowing you to fully explore the pretty Polynesian island of Huahine.
Crossing the scenic bridge that connects the two halves of Huahine, a panoramic drive brings you to a stunning Belvedere Lookout. Enjoy magnificent views of your cruise ship, the lagoon and beautiful Maroe Bay.
Passing through Fare -- the largest village on the island -- you will continue on to Maeva Marae to view the amazing, open-air stone temples that are considered to be the island's most sacred religious artifacts. Near the marae, you will also be able to take photos of the 400-year-old Polynesian stone fish-traps that are still very much in use today. Mahi-mahi and tuna are the locals' favorite fish.
Driving past lush forests, you're headed to a local vanilla garden, where you will view and smell the climbing orchids that produce the aromatic vanilla pods.
Stop to meet the sacred giant blue-eyed eels that live in the stream running through the village of Faie; then board a small boat for a short visit to a pearl farm. Learn how this fascinating industry works and view the exquisite pearls in their shells. You'll have time to purchase a pearl if you wish.
Take photos at a tropical beach en route back to the ship at Maroe Bay.
