Explore the North Shore of Oahu on this tour filled with Hawaiian history, fun facts, and local food.
Start your journey traveling through the majestic Ko'olau Mountains, one of the two mountain ranges on Oahu. Visit Byodo-In Temple, a cultural landmark that symbolizes Hawaii's heritage and historical connection with Japan.
Located in the fabled Valley of the Temples at the foot of the lush, emerald-green Ko'olau cliffs -- home to wild peacocks, swans, and hundreds of Japanese koi carp.
Head towards Malaekahana Bay to marvel at breathtaking views of the wild and rugged eastern Oahu coastline. Continue to Kahuku and sight Hawaii's unique bird and sea life along the way.
Then travel north to view Sunset Beach. This popular surf spot, along with Haleiwa and the Pipeline, make up the Triple Crown of Surfing. Between October and mid-March, waves can be as high as 50 feet. Continue along the North Shore's scenic coastline, possibly spotting green sea turtles basking in the sun.
After lunch, journey through the colorful and historic town of Haleiwa. Up the road and past the pineapple fields, visit the historic Dole Plantation. Pineapple-themed gifts are available for purchase here.
Relax and enjoy the ride back to Honolulu.
Notes:
Tour consists mainly of sightseeing from the transportation. Stops are brief, and participants can remain in the vehicle. However, you will visit Byodo Temple and tour the site. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. This tour is available only to guests whose cruise does not begin or end in Honolulu.
