Depart the pier to discover Moorea’s amazing natural beauty and dramatic views.
The main highlight of the island is Opunohu Bay. Here, you will visit the interior of this lush green valley, where local plantations of pineapple and other crops sustain the island’s economy.
Stop at an ancient stone temple (marae), where you will learn about a Polynesian civilization that once worshipped on these sacred grounds. Continue up the twisty mountain road to the Belvedere viewpoint. This breathtaking panoramic lookout awes you with the surrounding volcanic crater that formed the island millions of years ago and a bird’s-eye view of Cook’s and Opunohu Bays far below.
Enjoy a refreshment stop before returning to the pier.
Notes:
The guide will comment on daily life on Moorea but will not offer a lot of historical or cultural narrative. Ride will be bumpy; guests who are pregnant and those with a back or neck condition, motion sickness or vertigo are not allowed to participate. Expensive clothing and jewelry should not be worn on tour. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Bring insect repellent.
