Depart the pier to discover Moorea’s amazing natural beauty and dramatic views.
The main highlight of the island is Opunohu Bay. Here you will visit the interior of this lush green valley where local plantations of pineapple and other crops sustain the island’s economy. A stop is made at an ancient stone temple (marae) where you will learn about a Polynesian civilization that once worshipped on these sacred grounds. Continue up the twisty mountain road to the summit of the Belvedere point. This breathtaking panoramic lookout will awe you with the surrounding volcano crater that formed the island millions of years ago and the bird's eye view of Cook’s and Opunohu Bay far below.
Other stops include lookout spots of Cook’s and Opunohu Bay, and a refreshment stop before returning to the pier.
Notes:
The guide will comment on daily life on Moorea but will not offer a lot of historical or cultural narrative. Wear comfortable walking shoes: bring water, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and inspect repellent. Expensive jewellery or clothing should not be worn on tour.
