No trip to Polynesia is complete without sailing Moorea's shoreline beauty as Wallis and Cook did when exploring South Pacific. Set sail on the maxi-catamaran, offering plenty of shaded seating under the canopy, while sun seekers can relax on the two large nets located in the bow. Thanks to its short draft, you will be amazed where your maxi catamaran can take you -- shallow lagoon waters and close-up views of the shore are the norm.
Get your hands on the wheel while the crew sets up the sails for magnificent sailing along the in-shore reef. Feel the sea breeze as you discover the lush and appealing scenery of Moorea. Cross the reef through the passage and see an amazing mix of blue and green water, overwater bungalows and local houses -- the stuff of gorgeous photos.
At a swim stop, a mask and snorkel are provided. Access to the water is made by way of a large, easy step ladder that makes getting into and out of the water a snap. This sandy area boasts tiki carved stones, which are worth a visit.
Back on board, settle on the catamaran decks or nets, and relax with refreshments while you sail your way home through the bay of 'the lizard isle'. Keep your eyes peeled for spinner dolphins -- an added bonus if you spot one.
Notes:
Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, biodegradable sunscreen and a hat. Expensive jewelry or clothing should not be worn on tour. Camera equipment should be carried with care and appropriate waterproof protection. The boat may be wet; personal belongings should be stored with caution. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. Mask and snorkel provided. Guests participating in water activities must know how to swim, be comfortable in the water and be able to cope with occasional currents. Depth of water is not guaranteed, due to currents and sea level variation. Please realistically assess your own ability prior to taking part in this water activity. Swim/snorkel at your own risk. For your own safety and to help preserve the environment, when snorkeling, do not touch or step on coral. Sailing on board a boat requires vigilance-you must be physically aware of the boat environment and fit enough to negotiate steps and the vessel's accessways. Access to the restroom is available via a straight ladder. French Polynesia's geological features include coral reefs, coral beaches, sea, mountains and some uneven ground. You must remove your shoes upon boarding the catamaran.
