Leaving the harbor, you will take the freeway straight to La Laguna, located in the center of the Aguerre Valley and just a few miles from the capital. La Laguna sits at an elevation of 1,600 feet above sea level and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its streets are straight, its squares large, and its monuments undeniable proof of its former grandeur.
The best way to explore La Laguna is on foot, so you'll walk to the Church of the Convent of Santa Catalina, the popular market in the Plaza del Adelantado, the cathedral, and along the Calle de San Agustin, where you'll see rows of beautiful balconies and old convents.
View the façade of the Episcopal Palace and visit the History Museum in the Lercaro Palace.
In El Sauzal, you'll visit the Wine Museum of La Baranda and take in the view from the terrace over the north coast.
Turn back to the area of Tacorante and, at the famous Bodega Alvaro, enjoy an apéritif with different types of wines. The first vines planted in the Canary Islands came from the Eastern Mediterranean, including the vines that produce the famous Malmsey wines that were immortalized in the works of Shakespeare.
