Today, it's all about water and Dominica's rugged mountainous landscape, rivers, waterfalls, lakes and valleys.
Begin your day out with a panoramic drive inland. An exhilarating seven-minute nature trail hike through the rain forest brings you to the splendor of Trafalgar Falls -- two marvelous waterfalls.
On the banks of the Layou River -- Dominica's longest waterway -- you'll find a river-tubing launch site. Grab a modified inner tube and hop into the river. Feel the force of nature as you float down, gently spinning and swirling in the current, taking in the changing scenery at every turn.
Enjoy a popular Dominican pastime -- swim in the crystal-clear river water for a few minutes before continuing your float trip.
Back on land, refreshments, including rum punch and a local snack, are served at the Hillsborough Reception Center.
Notes:
Tour operates weather, rainfall and river conditions permitting. Minimum age is 8 years. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, biodegradable sunscreen and a hat. Swim at your own risk.
