Here's a tour for all the senses, beginning with a panoramic drive along the Tasman Peninsula and inviting you to experience foodie favorites and the landscapes of Tasman National Park.
You're headed to the aromatic Port Arthur Lavender Farm, set on 18 acres with 6,000 plants. Take in the calming scent of one of nature's finest fragrances and sit down for an enjoyable morning snack of scones served with lavender cream. Stroll about the farm, check out the essential oil distillery, and browse in the gift shop where lavender fudge and chocolates made on the premises call to you like a siren.
Tasmania is also famous for its oysters and award-winning wines. Handily, the Bangor Wine & Oyster Shed, which occupies the site of Abel Tasman's landing in 1642, allows you to experience both. Tasmania's mild temperatures and cool nights yield excellent wines. Enjoy a tasting platter of freshly-shucked local oysters accompanied by a glass of cool-climate wine to form your own impression of this marvelous combination.
Sit down to a seasonal lunch of fresh local fare in a setting overlooking Blackman Bay.
Make the most of a photo stop at Eaglehawk Neck -- the narrow isthmus that connects the Tasman Peninsula to the mainland. Its monumental rock formations punctuate the landscape of Tasman National Park and include the Devil's Kitchen, Tasman Arch, and the Blowhole -- mesmerizing geological wonders created by wind and waves over the span of millennia.
