Continue to St Philippe -- a city best known for its vanilla and other plant treasures, including the gourmet-favorite heart of palm.
With the interpretation of your specialist guide, Mare Longue Forest reveals its treasures, including spices such as cinnamon, cloves and pepper. Walk through this primary forest along footpaths through applewood and ironwood trees and their attendant scents.
You'll stop for lunch at Cap Méchant. See the high falls of black lava, weathered by the ocean crashing against them. A choca forest is the green backdrop here.
The afternoon will be dedicated to visiting the Grand Brûlé area, famous for its lava flows.
