Take a panoramic drive through A Coruña, heading to the promenade that runs the length of the city's coastline.
You will see the 'galleries' along the waterfront that lend A Coruña its 'Crystal City' nickname due to their hundreds of windows. Some time ago, the sea was closer to the city, and these windows reflected the sunlight bouncing off the water's surface.
Along the promenade -- the longest in Europe -- you will pass the Castle of San Anton, built on an island. Once a local fortress, nowadays, the castle is an archaeological museum and is connected to the city by a causeway.
Don't miss the Tower of Hercules -- a beacon built by the ancient Romans. This is the only lighthouse of its kind that is still working in its original capacity and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Follow the coastline past several estuaries with great views of the Galician forest. The villages you will see are typical of the region and boast some of the best beaches in Galicia.
At a local restaurant, the sommelier has prepared for you a sample of some Spanish treats and a tasting of several wines of Spain -- Ribeiro of Galicia, Rioja and others.
