Day 1 (L/D)
Explore the mysteries of Easter Island up close -- a captivating destination shrouded in mystery. This Overnight tour uncovers the island's most fascinating archaeological wonders, offering a glimpse into its ancient past.
Step off the ship onto the island and meet your guide. Board a vehicle for a panoramic drive to Akivia and its seven beautifully restored Moai statues. Learn about the fascinating legend and lore behind these statues, which symbolize the seven ambassadors King Hotu Matua sent to Easter Island (likely from the Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia).
In Hanga Roa town, a delicious lunch is served at a quaint local restaurant.
A leisurely island drive brings you to the fascinating Orongo archaeological site. Wander through the remains of 52 flagstone houses. This is where the intriguing birdman culture once thrived. Ask your guide to explain this.
Next, explore the majestic Rano Kau volcano to admire breathtaking views of its crater and the lush vegetation thriving in its microclimate.
Check in at the hotel and relax before dinner.
This evening, head out to Ahu Tahai to take in the spectacle of the mystical Moai statues at sunset.
Hotel: Nayara Hangaroa
Day 2 (B/L)
Be ready for an early pick-up for a mesmerizing dawn visit to Ahu Tongariki, boasting fifteen restored statues standing tall on its 656-foot platform. Watch the spectacular sunrise at this remarkable site before heading back to the hotel for a delicious breakfast.
After checking out, start your day of adventure. Explore the remarkable Rano Raraku Quarry on the south coast, where 397 Moai statues lie in various stages of completion upon the slopes of an extinct volcano.
At Tongariki, you see the statues and ahu (platforms) bathed in sunlight, providing a memorable sight and great photos.
Don't miss the strange magnetic stone at Te Pito Kura, and Easter Island's largest carved Moai.
Pause at Anakena Beach, known for its beautiful sandy shores and the restored platforms of Ahu Nau Nau and Ahu Ature Huke. A leisurely walk leads to a barbecue lunch accompanied by lively music and dance.
The day culminates with a drive back to the pier to reboard the ship.
