Ride along Rio's celebrated Guanabara Bay, passing Flamengo and Botafogo Beaches en route.
Here's your chance to ascend stunning Sugar Loaf Mountain in two stages by cable car for a breathtaking view of Corcovado, the beaches, the Rio de Janeiro-Niteroi Bridge, and the city of Niteroi across the bay.
A panoramic drive along Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon beaches is also included.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant; then, continue through the city to the Tijuca Forest to the base of the world-famous Corcovado. One of the most recognizable landmarks on the planet is the statue of Christ the Redeemer atop this 2,400-foot mountain. Board an electric cogwheel train for the 20-minute ride through the forest to the top of the 'hunchback' mountain. The spectacular vistas of Rio from the train -- encompassing the city's beaches, buildings and bridges -- are quite spellbinding (weather permitting). At the top, take the elevator or escalator to the summit. Climb approximately 25 steps, and you'll see the crowning glory of Corcovado -- the famous statue of Christ the Redeemer, made of soapstone and standing 125 feet tall. The Redeemer's outstretched arms welcome you to an absolutely astonishing 360-degree view. The tram returns you to the base, and you will head back to the pier, about an hour away.
Notes:
This tour is available only to guests whose cruise does not begin or end in Rio de Janeiro. Tour includes a meal -- lunch on daytime tours or dinner on evening tours. Expect long lines at the attractions and at the Corcovado train station. During Carnival, this tour may operate differently; please expect heavy traffic congestion and delays. No guarantee is offered concerning visibility or views on any particular day, as climatic and atmospheric conditions vary and are beyond the tour operator's control. Escalators and elevators are available to reach the statue of Christ, or you can climb the 220 steps instead. Whichever option you choose, there will still be walking required and steps to climb, as well as cobblestones and uneven surfaces and some standing for extended periods. Tour does not operate on holidays.
