Day 1 (L,D)
Upon disembarkation in Durban, you will be met by an English-speaking representative on the pier who will escort you to Durban King Shaka International Airport.
Depart from Durban harbor and transfer to the airport. A lunch pack will be provided.
Upon arrival at the airport, your guide will show you to the check-in counters for your flight to Port Elizabeth Airport.
On arrival in Port Elizabeth, you will be met by a local English-speaking tour guide who will accompany you on your private transfer to Kariega Game Reserve. The traveling time is approximately 1.5 hours.
Situated on South Africa’s malaria-free Garden Route, Kariega Game Reserve spans across 10,000 hectares of pristine Eastern Cape wilderness and is home to the famous Big 5, as well as a variety of other wildlife. Wild cats, lynx, hyenas, jackals, genets, bushpigs, warthogs, baboons, monkeys, aardvarks, otters, honey badgers, and porcupines are some of our residents, to mention just a few. Kariega is bordered in the east and west by two magnificent rivers, a delight for birdwatchers who will have the chance to view an abundance of birdlife, including the magnificent African fish eagle.
Located in a remote and untouched part of the Kariega wilderness, Settlers Drift offers a unique tented safari combined with 5-star luxury. The lodge consists of spacious tented suites, each with stunning views and secluded viewing decks. Gazing down from the decks overlooking the Bushman’s River, it feels as if time has stood still since the last feet to have touched this remote valley were those of the 1820 Settlers as they guided their wagons across the river. The luxuriously appointed and perfectly positioned tented lodge delivers the ultimate guest experience.
Upon arrival at Kariega Settlers Drift, a welcome drink is served while guests fill out registration cards and indemnity forms. Afterward, you will be shown to your rooms.
Relax and enjoy some pre-dinner drinks, explore your surroundings, and anticipate a delightful dinner served at the lodge.

Breathing devices:
There are stringent regulations regarding the transportation of breathing/respiratory devices for any purpose during tours or overland trips. Guests intending to bring such a device must notify the home office or shore excursion staff at least 30 days before the start of the tour. They are required to fill out the necessary FAA documentation, furnish a physician's authorized letter detailing the device's particular use, and provide information about the device.
