Depart from the pier and follow one of South Africa's most scenic routes to Cape Point, traveling through the seaside suburbs of Sea Point, Bantry Bay and Clifton via the lovely Chapmans Peak Drive.
Enjoy some of the Cape's most magnificent views and continue through the quaint seaside residential suburb of Scarborough en route to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. The nature reserve is comprised of 19,000 acres of indigenous flora and fauna. This is where two oceans and two marine ecosystems meet. With its dramatic sea cliffs -- among the tallest in South Africa -- Cape Point is the main attraction in the reserve. Ride the funicular to the top for breathtaking views.
Lunch is served at a restaurant with a scenic outlook.
Visit the penguin colony on Boulders Beach before you leave the area.
Continue to Kirstenbosch National Botanic Gardens, which sprawls over 1,300 acres on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain and contains 4,580 species of indigenous plants. Enjoy a leisurely, guided walk through these beautiful surroundings.
Returning to the harbor, you'll pass the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital, where the first human heart transplant took place in the 1970s.
