Depart the quayside and drive to Simons Town, your first stop will be Boulders Beach to visit the African penguin colony.
African penguins (also known as jackass penguins because of their distinctive braying sound) are the only penguins found on the African continent. A one-hour tour of Boulder's Penguins allows you to view nesting grounds and learning about the colony.
It's just a short drive to the picturesque harbor town of Kalk Bay. Some of its gorgeous historical buildings date back to the 1870s. Fishing was the mainstay of Kalk Bay and the locals still purchase their fresh fish when the boats come in. Boutique shops sell local arts and crafts -- take advantage of some free time to explore before you head back to Cape Town.
Notes:
Terrain includes sand, unformed paths and uneven ground. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Wearing flat and comfortable walking shoes is recommended. Tour does not operate on Fridays or Sundays.
