Your day will start as you arrive at Ida’s house based in Brufut, to get a true feel of a day in the life of a local. You will be dressed into local outfits made just for you before departing to the market to buy the key ingredients to cook the popular African lunch of the day.
On your return, after a refreshing cold local Baobab or Wonjo juice, the food preparations and the actual cooking begins, all with Ida’s close guidance. Once the meal is prepared, we then sit to enjoy the fruits of our hard work. This is followed by the brewing of "attaya" the local tea. An authentic African day where you get to feel, dress and eat like the locals. This is a great opportunity to really find out about the Gambian culture and way of life and values.
Please note:
Wear comfortable closed-toe walking shoes and long pants. Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, and bottled water from the ship.
