This introductory half-day trip through Banjul, Gambia's capital city and surrounding area, will familiarize you with the main places to visit.
A visit to the National Museum in Banjul helps you to understand the history of Gambia.
On a short panoramic drive that highlights some city sights, you'll stop to visit the Albert Market (the general market) with much hustle and bustle. Anything from live chickens and vegetables to herbs and wigs can be bought (and sold) here.
Stop by the city's main mosque. You will also see the main jewelry shop selling a wide array of silver and gold items.
Watch for Arch 22; then, continue to Serre-Kunda -- the most densely populated town in the Gambia. Here, you will see a demonstration of the locals' tie-dying skills and the beautiful batik cottons they produce.
In Bakau, don't miss the Katchically Crocodile Pool, where you may be fortunate enough to see the famous reptilian resident, Charlie, who has starred in a British television documentary. At the Bakau Craft Market, a variety of souvenirs are for sale.
Your final stop will be at the Garden Hotel for a light refreshment.
