Your journey begins, where you will board an air-conditioned coach for a guided transfer toward the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. After a scenic 30-minute drive from Agadir, you will arrive at the Atlas Kasbah Ecolodge, a charming Kasbah-style hotel set in a commanding position overlooking the surrounding hills. The property is known for its strong commitment to sustainability, reflected in its use of solar energy, organic food production, traditional earth construction, and rainwater conservation. These eco-friendly practices blend seamlessly with warm hospitality and attentive service provided by the resident owners and staff.
Before reaching the ecolodge, your first stop will be Souk Al Ahad, where you will have time to explore the lively market and experience the atmosphere of local daily life. After your visit, the coach continues to the ecolodge, where you will be welcomed with a Traditional mint tea drink and introduced to the chef and team who will guide your culinary experience.
Your cooking class begins with an introduction to the rich traditions of Moroccan cuisine, considered one of the most diverse in the world. Over the centuries, Morocco has absorbed influences from Arab, Berber, Moorish, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, African, Iberian, and Jewish cultures. The royal kitchens of cities such as Fez, Meknes, Marrakech, Rabat, and Tetouan helped refine these influences into the distinctive flavors and techniques that define Moroccan cooking today. During your lesson, you will learn about these traditions firsthand as you prepare dishes under the guidance of the chef.
Following your time in the kitchen, you will sit down to enjoy the meal you have helped create. After lunch, there will be a moment to relax and appreciate the peaceful surroundings and facilities of the ecolodge before beginning the return journey. A comfortable 40-minute drive brings you back to the ship, concluding your five-hour culinary and cultural experience in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains.
