Commence with a scenic walk from Odda Harbor to Sandvin Lake; the two are connected by a fast-flowing river through Odda town.
Upon arrival at the lake, listen to an introduction to the kayaking equipment and a safety briefing. Paddle your kayak toward the nearest waterfall — Strondsfossen — exploring the lake's small bays and creeks. Look around you — the scenic backdrop includes the Buer Glacier in Folgefonna National Park, steep mountainsides, and traditional farmhouses.
Midway through the outing, your guide will find a suitable spot on the shoreline for a rest stop, allowing you to stretch your legs.
Paddling back to the base, you'll walk back to Odda.
Time permitting, guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so, but must make their own way back to the ship.
Notes:
Minimum age is 8 years; children 8-15 years must be in a tandem kayak with an adult. Maximum weight per tandem kayak is 275 lbs (125 kg). Tour requires walking 1.3 miles (2km) to/from Sandvin Lake (approximately 35 minutes) accompanied by a guide. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, and a sunhat. No prior experience is needed; however, participants must be comfortable in the water and must know how to swim. Restrooms are not available on tour. Single and double kayaks are used; these are assigned at the start of the tour based on availability and guest capability. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
