Join a RIB (rigid inflatable) boat safari on beautiful Nordfjord for a taste of Norway’s extraordinary fjord landscape.
Meet your skipper and guide at the pier and don a flotation suit, life jacket and goggles. Step into the RIB, take your seat and let the adventure begin.
After a safety briefing, leave the harbor with some great views of your cruise ship and the village of Nordfjordeid. The pace picks up once you’re out on the fjord, and the cityscape is swiftly replaced by views of the fjords and the surrounding mountains.
This thrilling, high-speed journey is punctuated by several stops for both storytelling and photography. You’ll pause next to a salmon farm to watch the fish jump and learn about the harvesting done here.
Taste the popular Norwegian chocolate “quick lunch,” which is just a snack and definitely not a lunch.
Further down Nordfjord, a waterfall provides a taste of fresh glacier water. You’re witnessing sustainable energy when you view a hydropower plant and learn how the concept works.
This area also has a very special cultural landscape. Learn about the cheesemakers that settled here and taste the special local cheese made from goat milk. View traditional Norwegian farms growing apples, enjoy some apple juice, and spot Ålfoten Glacier in the distance. Keep an eye out for eagles and porpoises, too.
Cross Eidsfjord and head back to Nordfjordeid reaching speeds of up to 50 knots.
Notes:
Ride will be bumpy; guests who are pregnant and those with a back or neck condition are not allowed to participate. Minimum age is 12 years. There is no shelter on board the RIB. Survival suits are provided and must be worn. Wear sports shoes with a rubber sole. Tour operates rain or shine but may be canceled by the operator in the event of extremely bad weather or unsuitable conditions. Weather and atmospheric conditions vary; no guarantee is offered with regard to visibility or views on any particular day. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
