Board your motor coach for a drive to San Mateo d’Albarca through a green hilly landscape to visit Can Maymó Winery, a recognized wine producer on the island. The vineyard grows their own grapes and produces their own superb wine on site. The Phoenicians first grew grapes on Ibiza, but not in the same quantities grown here today. Nowadays, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Merlot and Syrah are planted on Ibiza, in addition to the traditional varietals such as Monastrell and Malvasía.
In the winery, familiar production techniques and high ecological standards are teamed with traditional methods and aging processes to produce wonderful wines. Step inside the bodega to hear an explanation of the production and blending process which produce these quality wines. Enjoy a tasting of different wines with classic Ibizan snacks such as fresh bread, sobrassada, and local cheese. Next, visit Santa Gertrudis, a quaint village where you will have the opportunity to take pictures, enjoy the quaint village center or go shopping prior to returning to the ship.
Notes:
Minimum age to participate in wine tasting is 18 years.
