Departing the city, the lighthouse route leads you to two outstanding south-coast villages.You will visit famed Peggy's Cove, with its glacial rock deposits and stunning lighthouse tableau that is the stuff of picture postcards,.and the UNESCO World Heritage Site town of Lunenburg, where simple Cape Cod architecture is celebrated in the antique downtown core, and brightly-painted stores and artisan workshops march in colorful profusion along the hillside on the bay.

Visitors are asked to stay off the rocks and away from the shoreline at Peggy's Cove. Terrain includes gravel pathways, paved areas, wooden decking, cement sidewalks, inclines, steps and rocky areas. Wear sturdy, comfortable walking shoes. Bring a warm sweater; bring an umbrella and a rain jacket.
