Departing from the cruise pavilion, this guided walking tour takes you through the evolution of Sept-Îles—from its early days as a small fishing village to the dynamic coastal city it is today.
As we walk toward the fishing park, your guide will share stories about the town’s beginnings and its strong connection to the sea. You’ll learn about traditional fishing methods, the types of traps used in the region, and the marine species that return from offshore waters.
We’ll pass by two popular local spots—the Fisherman’s Snack Bar and the Terrasse du Capitaine—both closely tied to local fishing boats and the processing plant, guaranteeing fresh products in season.
The tour continues with insights into the Sept-Îles Archipelago, including a stop at the mosaic viewpoint that honors the islands that gave the city its name.
At the marina and along the Old Wharf promenade, you’ll hear about early 1900s whaling before discovering the modern industries that shape Sept-Îles today.
We’ll also explore the region’s Indigenous roots with an introduction to Innu culture near the iconic yellow tent. On our return, we’ll pass the artisan cabins and stop at Hermel to enjoy a tasting featuring a locally grown northern berry product.
The tour ends back at the cruise pavilion with a look at the Port of Sept-Îles and its role as a key northern gateway.
A wonderful blend of history, culture, industry, and local flavors awaits you in Sept-Îles.
