Find out what it's like to farm blue mussels and scallops on one of the seven islands forming the Sept-Iles archipelago.
Your journey begins with a crossing by inflatable boat to Ile Grosse-Boule. Your skipper will tell you about the environment, the landscape, and any wildlife you may spot.
A warm welcome, an enchanting site, and a delectable product await you at the Ferme Maricole Purmer sea farm -- a unique concept in Canada. Leave the boat at the dock and walk up to the cottage to sample some local seaweed or seafood, depending on what is seasonally available.
Walk to the lookout point that boasts an unobstructed view of the archipelago and city. If you prefer to relax in the sea air, simply enjoy the cottage, yurts, beach, or forest.
During your return journey, keep your eyes open for any whales that may come alongside the boat to greet you.
Notes:
Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Mobility devices cannot be accommodated on the boat. Minimum age is 6 years. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
