The Farnsworth Art Museum specializes in works that portray the landscape and lifestyle of New England, especially in Maine. Its collection of more than 10,000 paintings, sculptures, and watercolors is set in galleries along with rotating exhibits that include the works of Andrew Wyeth, Washington Allston, Fitz Hugh Lane, Thomas Cole, Eastman Johnson, and Winslow Homer, among many others.
Next, enjoy a panoramic drive through Rockland with its bustling main street and the famous Breakwater Lighthouse in the distance.
You'll visit Mount Battie in Camden Hills State Park for sweeping views of Penobscot Bay, the town of Camden, and the islands peppering the bay. Edna St Vincent Millay -- Pulitzer Prize winner and unofficial poet laureate of Camden -- was inspired to write many poems about this vista.
